Terms & Conditions

Last updated: June 2026

These Terms & Conditions govern your access to and use of MicroSigns, an online training platform designed to help users learn how to recognize facial expressions and micro-expressions for educational purposes.

Please read these Terms carefully before using MicroSigns. By accessing the website, creating an account, using the free training mode, or purchasing a paid access pass, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Operator of the Service

MicroSigns is operated by NON | NÉGOCIABLE, a French company.

Legal name: NON | NÉGOCIABLE
Legal form: SASU
Registered office: 38 rue des Aqueducs 69005 Lyon - FRANCE
Registration number: 989 325 725
VAT number: FR93989325725
Contact email: legal@micro-signs.com

In these Terms, “MicroSigns”, “we”, “us” or “our” refers to the operator of the Service. “User”, “you” or “your” refers to any person accessing or using the Service.

2. Description of the Service

MicroSigns is an online educational platform providing interactive exercises, visual training material, quizzes, progression mechanics, and explanatory content related to facial expressions, micro-expressions, and emotional cues.

The Service is intended for learning, practice, and general educational purposes only. MicroSigns does not provide medical, psychological, diagnostic, forensic, employment, security, law enforcement, or lie-detection services.

The Service may include free features, account-based features, and paid premium features such as additional characters, additional difficulty levels, subtle expression training, playback comparisons, statistics, or other advanced training tools.

3. Acceptance of These Terms

By using MicroSigns, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted these Terms. If you do not agree with these Terms, you must not access or use the Service.

If you use MicroSigns on behalf of a company, organization, school, institution, public body, or other legal entity, you represent that you have the authority to bind that entity to these Terms. In that case, “you” also refers to that entity.

Additional terms may apply to specific features, promotions, beta programs, professional plans, or enterprise use cases. If additional terms apply, we will make them available before you use the relevant feature.

4. Eligibility and Age Restrictions

MicroSigns is intended for users aged 16 or older. You must not create an account or use the Service if you are under 16, unless your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and accepted these Terms on your behalf and such use is permitted under applicable law.

MicroSigns is not directed to children under the age of 13. If you are under 13, you must not use the Service, create an account, or provide any personal information to us.

If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without appropriate parental consent, we will take reasonable steps to delete that information.

5. User Accounts

Some features require you to create an account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information when creating your account and to keep it up to date.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and security of your login credentials, magic links, authentication methods, and account access. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account, unless the activity results from our failure to apply reasonable security measures.

You must notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access to your account or any security breach affecting your use of the Service.

We may refuse, suspend, or terminate accounts that appear to be fraudulent, abusive, automated, created for scraping, or otherwise in breach of these Terms.

6. Free Access and Paid Access

MicroSigns may offer free access to selected content, characters, exercises, or difficulty levels. Free access may be limited by number of attempts, available characters, available emotions, difficulty level, progression features, statistics, or other usage limits.

Paid access may unlock additional features, additional training content, advanced difficulty levels, subtle expression exercises, comparison tools, or other premium functionality.

We may modify the scope of free and paid features over time, provided that we do not materially remove access you have already purchased without a valid reason, unless required for security, legal, operational, or technical reasons.

7. Founder Pass

MicroSigns may offer a paid upgrade called the Founder Pass.

Unless stated otherwise at checkout, the Founder Pass is a one-time payment that grants access to the premium features made available under the Founder Pass.

The Founder Pass is not a subscription. You will not be charged recurring fees for the Founder Pass unless you separately and explicitly purchase a subscription or recurring plan in the future.

“Lifetime access” means access for the commercial lifetime of the MicroSigns service, subject to these Terms. It does not mean that the Service, any specific feature, any specific hosting provider, any specific technical architecture, or any specific content library will exist forever.

We may reasonably update, replace, redesign, rename, improve, or remove specific features, provided that the core educational value of the paid access is not unfairly withdrawn.

8. Prices, Taxes and Currency

Prices are displayed before checkout. Depending on your location, prices may be shown in EUR, USD, or another currency. The final amount charged will be displayed before payment confirmation.

Prices may include or exclude applicable taxes depending on the checkout configuration, your location, and applicable law. Where required, VAT, sales tax, or similar taxes will be calculated and displayed at checkout.

We may change our prices at any time. Price changes do not affect purchases already completed, unless you separately purchase a new product, subscription, upgrade, or renewal.

9. Payment Processing

Payments are processed by third-party payment providers, such as Stripe. We do not store your full payment card details on our own servers.

By making a purchase, you agree to provide accurate billing information and authorize the payment provider to charge the displayed amount using your selected payment method.

Your payment may be subject to additional terms, privacy notices, authentication requirements, anti-fraud checks, or payment rules imposed by the payment provider, your bank, card network, or local regulation.

We reserve the right to refuse or cancel transactions that appear fraudulent, abusive, unlawful, technically erroneous, or made in breach of these Terms.

10. No Recurring Billing Unless Clearly Stated

The Founder Pass is not a subscription. We will not charge recurring fees unless a recurring plan is clearly presented to you before purchase and you expressly agree to that recurring billing.

If MicroSigns later offers subscriptions, we will clearly disclose the subscription price, billing frequency, renewal terms, cancellation method, and any trial conditions before collecting your payment information.

If you purchase a subscription in the future, you will be able to cancel it according to the cancellation method disclosed at checkout and in the relevant subscription terms.

11. EU Right of Withdrawal for Consumers

If you are a consumer located in the European Union, the European Economic Area, or the United Kingdom, you may have a legal right to withdraw from a distance contract within 14 days, subject to applicable exceptions.

For digital content or digital services supplied immediately after purchase, you may lose your withdrawal right if:

  • you expressly consent to immediate access to the digital content or service; and
  • you acknowledge that you lose your right of withdrawal once performance begins or the digital content is made available, where permitted by applicable law.

If required by law, we will ask for this express consent and acknowledgement during checkout before giving immediate access to premium features.

If you are entitled to withdraw and have not waived your withdrawal right, you may contact us at contact@micro-signs.com within the applicable withdrawal period.

This clause does not limit any mandatory consumer rights that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

12. Refund Policy

Unless otherwise required by applicable law, completed purchases of digital access are generally non-refundable once premium access has been made available.

We may, at our discretion, issue a refund in exceptional cases, for example in the event of a duplicate payment, technical malfunction preventing access to the purchased features, or manifest billing error.

To request assistance, contact us at contact@micro-signs.com with your account email, purchase date, and a brief explanation of the issue.

Nothing in this Refund Policy limits statutory rights that apply to consumers in their country, state, or region.

13. Educational Disclaimer

MicroSigns is an educational training tool. It is designed to help users observe and learn about facial expressions and emotional cues. It does not guarantee that a user will accurately identify another person’s emotion, intention, truthfulness, personality, mental state, credibility, risk level, or future behavior.

Facial expressions and emotional cues are context-dependent. They can be influenced by culture, personal habits, fatigue, neurodiversity, disability, stress, masking, social context, medical conditions, and many other factors.

You must not use MicroSigns as the sole basis for making decisions about employment, education, law enforcement, security screening, immigration, insurance, credit, healthcare, psychological assessment, or any other significant decision affecting a person.

MicroSigns is not a lie detector, diagnostic tool, medical device, psychological assessment tool, biometric identification system, or automated decision-making system.

14. AI, Biometrics and Emotion Recognition Restrictions

MicroSigns provides training content related to facial expressions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, MicroSigns does not identify users through facial recognition and does not infer the emotions of users from their own camera, video feed, uploaded images, or biometric data.

You must not use MicroSigns, its content, its interface, its images, its training logic, or any exported material to build, train, benchmark, validate, or deploy systems intended to:

  • identify natural persons through biometric recognition;
  • infer the emotions of employees, job applicants, students, pupils, or workers;
  • perform workplace surveillance, classroom surveillance, or behavioral scoring;
  • make automated decisions about real people;
  • detect lies, deception, criminal risk, psychological traits, or intent;
  • create or expand facial recognition databases; or
  • violate applicable AI, biometric, privacy, consumer protection, or anti-discrimination laws.

Any professional, institutional, law enforcement, security, educational, HR, research, or AI development use requires our prior written authorization and may be subject to separate terms.

15. Acceptable Use

You agree to use MicroSigns only for lawful, personal, educational, and permitted professional purposes.

You must not:

  • use the Service in violation of any applicable law or regulation;
  • use the Service to harm, harass, manipulate, discriminate against, or profile another person;
  • copy, scrape, download, extract, or harvest the visual dataset or training content;
  • use bots, scripts, crawlers, automated tools, or bulk access methods without authorization;
  • reverse engineer, decompile, bypass, or attempt to access non-public parts of the Service;
  • circumvent paywalls, access controls, authentication, rate limits, or signed URL protections;
  • share, resell, sublicense, rent, or commercially exploit your account or paid access;
  • interfere with the security, availability, integrity, or performance of the Service;
  • upload, transmit, or introduce malware, harmful code, or security vulnerabilities;
  • misrepresent your identity or create accounts using false or misleading information;
  • use MicroSigns to train competing datasets, models, products, or services without permission;
  • remove copyright, trademark, watermark, attribution, or proprietary notices; or
  • encourage or assist anyone else to do any of the above.

16. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its interface, training logic, text, images, characters, visual assets, datasets, exercises, scoring mechanics, software, structure, design, trademarks, trade names, and other content, is owned by MicroSigns, NON | NÉGOCIABLE, or its licensors.

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to access and use the Service for its intended educational purpose.

No ownership rights are transferred to you. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works from, publicly display, publicly perform, publish, scrape, sell, license, or commercially exploit any part of the Service without our prior written consent.

The names “MicroSigns”, “NON | NÉGOCIABLE”, related logos, and visual identity elements may not be used without our prior written authorization.

17. Protection of the Image Dataset

MicroSigns relies on a curated visual dataset of facial expression training images. This dataset is a core proprietary asset of the Service.

You are not permitted to download, copy, screenshot at scale, scrape, reconstruct, mirror, index, redistribute, resell, use for machine learning, or incorporate the dataset into another product, service, training program, AI model, biometric system, emotion recognition system, or competing platform.

Access to images may be technically restricted through private storage, temporary signed URLs, access controls, rate limits, monitoring, or other protective measures. Attempting to bypass those measures is prohibited.

18. User Content and Feedback

The current version of MicroSigns may not allow public user-generated content. However, you may provide information through account forms, onboarding flows, support requests, feedback forms, or other communications.

You remain responsible for the content you submit. You must not submit unlawful, defamatory, infringing, abusive, discriminatory, confidential, or harmful content.

If you send us feedback, suggestions, corrections, ideas, feature requests, or improvement proposals, you grant us the right to use them without restriction or compensation, provided that we do not disclose your personal information in violation of our Privacy Policy.

19. Privacy and Personal Data

Our processing of personal data is described in our Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, the service providers we use, and the rights available to users under applicable privacy laws.

Depending on your location, you may have rights such as access, rectification, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, withdrawal of consent, opt-out of certain data sharing, or non-discrimination for exercising privacy rights.

Please read our Privacy Policy here: Privacy Policy.

Please read our Cookie Policy here: Cookie Policy.

20. Third-Party Services

MicroSigns may rely on third-party providers for hosting, authentication, database services, storage, payments, analytics, email delivery, security, customer support, and other technical or operational functions.

These providers may include services such as Supabase, Stripe, Google authentication, hosting providers, analytics tools, or email providers. Their use of personal data is described in our Privacy Policy where applicable.

We are not responsible for third-party websites, products, or services that we do not control. Your use of third-party services may be subject to their own terms and privacy policies.

21. Availability, Maintenance and Changes

We aim to provide a reliable Service, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or permanent availability.

The Service may be unavailable due to maintenance, updates, hosting incidents, security measures, payment provider issues, database incidents, network failures, force majeure, or other technical or operational causes.

We may update, improve, modify, suspend, or discontinue parts of the Service. Where a change materially affects paid access, we will act reasonably and in accordance with applicable consumer protection laws.

Development, staging, test, or beta environments, including dev subdomains, may be unstable and may be modified, reset, or removed without notice.

22. Beta Features

Some features may be released as beta, preview, experimental, or early-access features. These features may be incomplete, unstable, or changed substantially before general release.

Beta features are provided for testing and feedback purposes. We may modify, limit, suspend, or discontinue beta features at any time.

23. No Professional Advice

MicroSigns may include educational references to psychology, negotiation, communication, facial expression research, or emotional signals. This content is provided for general learning purposes only.

MicroSigns does not provide legal, medical, psychological, therapeutic, forensic, employment, security, or professional advice. You should not rely on the Service as a substitute for qualified professional judgment.

24. Consumer Guarantees

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits mandatory consumer rights, statutory warranties, legal guarantees, or remedies that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

For consumers in the European Union, this may include legal guarantees relating to the conformity of digital content or digital services. If you believe the Service does not conform to what was promised at the time of purchase, contact us at contact@micro-signs.com.

25. Disclaimer of Warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, MicroSigns is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, compatible with all devices or browsers, or that the training results will meet your expectations.

We do not warrant that use of MicroSigns will enable you to accurately interpret real-world emotions, detect deception, improve negotiation outcomes, make reliable assessments of other persons, or achieve any specific personal, educational, or professional result.

26. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages, including loss of profits, loss of business, loss of data, loss of goodwill, reputational harm, or loss of opportunity.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total liability for any claim relating to the Service or these Terms will not exceed the amount you paid to MicroSigns during the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or EUR 100 if you did not make any payment.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for fraud, intentional misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or mandatory consumer rights.

27. Indemnification

If you use MicroSigns on behalf of a business, institution, or professional organization, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless MicroSigns, NON | NÉGOCIABLE, and their officers, employees, contractors, and partners from claims, damages, liabilities, losses, and expenses arising from:

  • your breach of these Terms;
  • your unlawful use of the Service;
  • your use of MicroSigns for prohibited professional, biometric, AI, HR, educational, or surveillance purposes;
  • your infringement of third-party rights; or
  • your violation of applicable law.

This indemnity does not apply to consumers where prohibited by applicable consumer protection law.

28. Suspension and Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account, restrict access to features, remove access to paid content, or block future use of the Service if we reasonably believe that:

  • you breached these Terms;
  • your account is used fraudulently, unlawfully, or abusively;
  • your use creates security, legal, technical, or reputational risk;
  • you attempt to scrape, copy, or misuse the dataset;
  • you misuse the Service for prohibited AI, biometric, HR, surveillance, or profiling purposes; or
  • we are required to do so by law, court order, regulator, payment provider, or security obligation.

Where reasonable and legally permitted, we may give you notice or an opportunity to remedy the breach. Serious breaches may result in immediate suspension or termination.

Termination does not affect rights and obligations that by their nature should survive, including intellectual property, payment obligations, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and dispute resolution provisions.

29. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in the Service, our business, applicable law, payment rules, security requirements, or operational needs.

The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify users, for example through the website, account interface, or email.

Your continued use of the Service after updated Terms become effective means that you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree with the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service.

30. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of France, unless mandatory consumer protection laws in your country, state, or region provide otherwise.

If you are a consumer, you may benefit from mandatory legal protections of your place of residence. Nothing in these Terms deprives you of such mandatory protections.

31. Dispute Resolution

If you have a complaint, please contact us first at contact@micro-signs.com. We will try to resolve the issue amicably.

If you are a consumer resident in France or the European Union, you may have the right to access a consumer mediation mechanism free of charge after first contacting us and attempting to resolve the dispute directly.

Subject to mandatory consumer rights, any dispute relating to these Terms or the Service will be submitted to the competent courts of France.

32. International Users

MicroSigns is operated from France. If you access the Service from outside France, you are responsible for ensuring that your use of the Service is lawful in your jurisdiction.

We make no representation that the Service is appropriate, authorized, or available in all countries, states, or territories. We may restrict access to the Service in certain locations if required for legal, regulatory, payment, tax, security, or operational reasons.
